celebrate! punta del este

After almost three years in the extreme southern tip of South America, my kids were ecstatic to be in the warmer waters of Uruguay. In port, we celebrated our return to freedom as sailors on the water and made preparations for the completion of our circumnavigation with a sail plan to go non-stop from Uruguay to the Caribbean.

We arrived in the city just after the peak tourism season in Punta del Este, and there was space for us on the docks and a tranquil scene on the peninsula.

tramites for anasazi ltda.

Tramites, tramites, tramites... After 17 months of forms, we are starting to understand the trail of paperwork that is typically involved with doing business in Chile. Notaries, lawyers, tax offices, signatures, stamps, fingerprints, etc., as we finalize the paperwork needed for our Chilean LLC, Anasazi Ltda., which allows us to work legally in Chile. Opening the doors to work opportunities in Chile puts us one step closer to getting the new rig.

This last round of paperwork meant taking the whole family off the island on a DAP Airlines twin otter to Punta Arenas. Thanks to Gobernación Provincial de Antártica Chilena office in Puerto Williams for providing our family with government subsized transport off the island.

My three musketeers are always excited beyond belief to do anything outside of the daily norm.

gate antics at puq

The mast repair project for Anasazi Girl has put us into debt for the first time since we started our voyage in June 2011.  Both James and I are heads down, working like mad to get ourselves out of the red.

We always try to find work that allows us to stick together.  Chile just granted us temporary work & residence visas.  So when a client offered James some marine electronics work in Rapel, one of the requirements was that the family could come along.  Lucky for us, the answer was yes - his client booked all of us round-trip seats on a LAN flight from Punta Arenas to Santiago.
