st. david's habour / grenada

Living on a boat, we have always worried about our kids & safety on/in the water. The only time they have fallen in is when we've been on the dock. It usually involves getting on & off the boat and all the kids except Tarzan have fallen in more than once.

It was such a great treat for us to finish our cirucmnavigation in the Caribbean, where warm waters are always inviting, especially after spending so many years in the icy waters of our high latitude ports. Our goal for our time here in this part of the world is for all of our kids to feel comfortable and strong in the water.

finally in the water / punta del este

One of the major things lacking in our lives over the three years we were in Southern Chile was a lack of swim time for our kids. Even at the indoor swimming pools we went to, the water temperature was just too low for my little ones to stay long in the water. Warm water was pretty critical for us to make any major progress.

Living on a boat and around the water, it is a huge priority for our kids to have the ability to swim. Swimming is a lifetime sport, and the sooner they start, the stronger they will be.

We were super psyched when we arrived in Punta del Este to be able to enter the water for more than the 5 minute dips we made in the Beagle Channel at the peak of the summer season.
