A big wash & dry out of all our technical clothing. All fibers and zippers salt free & prepared for deep storage in the sail locker. We are not planning to break out any of these layers again on the next passage north. Everyone super excited to be somewhere warm and wear nothing. It will be a much easier scene geting 4 kids dressed in the tropics. Huge gratitude to the Patagonia, Inc photo department for keeping my crew warm in the environments when we really needed it.

clearing out of argentina

March 1st, 2017 - My crew on foot through the Port of Ushuaia to do the clearance paperwork for departure... Prefectura, Immigration, & Customs. This is the 8th time for the kids in & out of these offices, so they are now clearance pros in this world port.

In February 2016 our crew settled nicely into life aboard Anasazi Girl... especially excited was our youngest son Tarzan, who had spent the first 7 months of his life land-based in Puerto Natales. For him, Anasazi was the ultimate playground.

The boat got more and more dialed-in every day and we were all anxious to go & ready to take the lines off the dock to make a long passage.

caio isla navarino, hello freedom! passage / puerto williams to ushuaia

With our Chilean lives & voyage list in order for departure, we woke early aboard Anasazi Girl on the morning of January 18, 2017. We untied our lines from the mooring in Seno Lauta Harbour and bid a final farewell to our shipwrecked lives on the tiny island of Navarino. We took in the sunrise view of the island landscape, fairly certain that it would be the last time we would see it's skyline again. Sad to leave this special place that held so much nature and magic for my family, but so elated to finally be free again.
